FBC members and friends,
As you know, the governor has placed this region under new COVID 19 mitigation provisions due to a spike in COVID cases. The provisions state that groups are to be limited to 25 people or 25% of room capacity, whichever is less. I was forwarded an email from the Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department which essentially stated these mitigation provisions apply to churches and worship services.
I want to protect our worshipers as best we can, and feel it would be prudent to follow the mitigation provisions. It isn't really practical to attempt a 25 person worship service -- we would need about 12 people as "workers" to help with the service. That would mean only 13 people would be able to actually participate in the worship. We would have to have at least 3 services. . . .
So, I have recommended and have asked the church council that we go back to "live-streaming only" worship effective immediately. This will be a week-by-week decision. If the governor lifts the mediation restrictions, we can resume in-person worship. Until then, we will worship via "livestream" only.
Again, for the time being, we will NOT have in-person worship at First Baptist Church. We will be live-streaming on Facebook.
Let me know if you have any questions.
